Danny
As the founder of UK AWARE, I take comfort in my perception that I'm just an average Joe. I play football once a week,
I love snowboarding, I never wear matching socks, I don't enjoy going to weddings, I come from a one parent family,
I live in a three bed semi in west London and I still work full time as a fire fighter.
I'm just a regular bloke who realises that we, 'normal' people/consumers are the ones who hold the key to fighting
climate change.
We need easy, green options to be as available and acceptable as conventional ones... if they were made accessable, then which sane person wouldn't choose them?
Jodie
In the summer of 2007 I made perhaps the most difficult decision of my life - to put my comfortable life in Spain on
hold after ten years and to channel my energy into what swiftly became the most passionate project I'd ever thrown
myself into - UK AWARE.
I'd always considered myself to be bit of an environmentalist - from a rural upbringing in the hills of south Shropshire. I'd always been careful, some of my spanish friends would say anal (if they knew the English word for it that is), about my recycling, I'd always take my own bags shopping etc, etc.
It wasn't until I started working on UK AWARE that I realised the scale of what global warming was capable of- within my lifetime! In the last year or so however, I've also realised the positive potential there is in living in a low carbon economy and how easy it can be. We will live in a world without fossil fuels - you don't need to be Einstein to work that out, the question is are we going to use what's left of them to build a harmonious world we can live in without them or will we use what's left of them shortsightedly without any thought for future generations?
Global warming is THE challenge of our species - we need to look it in the eye and tackle it head on.

I was brought up eating organic veg from the kitchen garden, being told to switch off the lights, and wearing the hand me downs from my
five older brothers and sisters. Although I don't always wear cast offs now, the philosophy of recycling and reusing has stayed with me.
Having worked in the corporate events industry and the charity sector, I have taken this philosophy throughout my life and now feel as if I am part of a movement which demonstrates how small changes can make a big difference.

I'm a web developer by trade, photo-shy and currently self-employed. When Dan & Jodie asked me to help out with run up to their current show
I didn't have to think twice, it's not every day you get the opportunity to practice your skills and work on something that's truly
about making a positive difference!
The guys and girls making UK AWARE happen are working insane hours because they truly believe in the urgency and importance of promoting ethical & sustainable living. I really respect the tireless effort they put in and I'm honored to be able to do my bit, easing their pain when it comes to managing/building the website, creating banners, fixing software, breathing life back into dying laptops and things like that.
I've learnt alot during my time with the UK AWARE team and I'm really looking forward to the show, especially some of the debates that have been lined up … they're set to be very informative, topical and also highly entertaining! Who every said 'ethical' can't be fun hasn't met the people behind UK AWARE!
We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at our next event.
Danny, Jodie and the UK AWARE team.
